How I saved a netbook from the fate of being thrown into the trash

Hi all! Netbooks were very popular for some time and took their rightful place in the market. Now their popularity has fallen, but no one is discounting them and they are on store shelves. The most important advantage is compactness. It is always convenient to take this assistant with you on the road, which is easy to transport and does not take up much space; it will help in solving some work issues that require access to some applications or the Internet.

If you look at the offers of various flea markets of social networks or the Avito and Yula platforms, there are a lot of offers for the sale of netbooks. Prices are low, from 1000 to 5000 rubles on average. The disadvantages of netbooks are their low performance, they are not suitable for toys, and their hardware is generally “weak”.

A friend of mine had just such a netbook, Asus Eee PC 1001PXD, which she loved very much and used for a long time. During this time, she beat him up pretty badly, and at the last moment she even spilled a mug of coffee on him. When I was visiting her I saw this netbook lying in the hallway. When asked what kind of device it was, she replied that it was a netbook that she was going to throw in the trash. I could not leave this issue unattended and offered to look at it and, if possible, fix it. She refused, explaining that it was already outdated and worked very slowly, and after coffee it did not turn on at all. As a result, she simply gave it to me, free of charge.

On the channel I have already published articles about laptops that were sent to the trash heap and what I could do with them. If anyone is interested, you can read it. Already at home, I disassembled this netbook, it is very easy to disassemble. Laptops are much more difficult to disassemble. The keyboard was definitely finished and had to be thrown away. I do not leave them as “donors”.

I cleaned the motherboard of traces of coffee and other debris that had accumulated over the years of use. I cleaned the cooling system of dust and updated the thermal pads. And upon startup, the netbook started up smoothly.

Next, I tested the hard drive, which turned out to have a bunch of errors and weak sectors. I decided to replace it with another one and reinstalled the system. There was only 1 GB of RAM on board. DDR3, slot one, I had to expand the memory, set the bar to 2 GB. I also had to buy a new keyboard, I found only a black one in stock, it cost me 500 rubles. Otherwise, everything was fine with the netbook.

As a result, I received a fully functional netbook that can still work. I called a friend with an offer to return her old friend to her, but she refused it because she bought a new one. I don’t use netbooks and decided to sell it. I invested a total of 1500 rubles in it (keyboard, 320 GB HDD… 2 GB RAM), I will sell it for 4000-5000 rubles . There will always be a buyer for such equipment, and I can earn a little extra money, about 2500-3500 rubles . Agree, pretty good, better than him going to the trash heap.

Thank you all for your attention, subscribe to the channel and like it.
