How to sell your old laptop correctly

Hi all! At this time, laptops are selling much better than system units, and the former are sold in any version, even obsolete ones with one core. The same cannot be said about system units; even simple system units with a dual-core Core 2 Duo sit for a long time waiting for their buyer. And practically no one needs single-core ones at all.

If you are going to sell your laptop, I will give you some simple tips that will increase the percentage that they will buy it from you in the shortest possible time. We’re talking about a work laptop. I wrote in another article how to sell non-working ones.

  • Tidy up your laptop. Clean the case from dirt, tear off any stickers (emoticons, hearts, etc.), if there were any. Just take a damp cloth and clean everything a little.
  • Delete and transfer your data if you need it to other media.
  • Reinstall the system or clean out the accumulated “garbage”; if you have the skills, install a basic set of programs and drivers. If you don’t understand anything about this, download a program that will at least clean everything up automatically. For example, CCleaner or other free analogues.
  • If you have the skills and again if necessary, clean the cooling system of dust. Update the thermal paste if the laptop has not been serviced for a very long time. If you don’t know how, then don’t bother. It is better to warn the buyer that it is advisable to carry out preventive cleaning.
  • Take 10 photos of your laptop. Cases from different angles, top, bottom, sides. Take a photo of the laptop being turned on, record the Internet connection, launch YouTube, for example. Record other points, for example, the maximum characteristics of the laptop. So that the buyer has a rough idea of what he wants to buy. Many sellers simply take pictures of the laptop, take 1-2 photos, in which it is difficult to make out the condition and performance.

  • Place ads on Avito, Yula and flea markets on social networks. Do not be lazy to make the most detailed description of your laptop, indicate the characteristics, equipment and possible defects, so that later there will be no complaints against you, since everything was indicated before the moment of purchase. Upload the photos you took of your laptop.
  • Decide on the price, look at other offers in Russia. Check out the offers in your locality. In small cities, you can put it a little more expensive, since there will be few offers. In big cities, you will have to move in price, since there are plenty of offers. Of course, the lower the price, the faster they will buy.
