How much money can you earn if you sell 1 kilogram of faulty hard drives for computer scrap?

Hi all! We continue the section on turning over faulty computer hardware for scrap, looking at where and how to turn it in, and how much you can earn. Any hard drives, from laptops and computers, are suitable for delivery. Not working or obsolete, for example due to the small amount of memory for storing data.

Almost every family has a home computer. Hard drives are consumables that periodically fail. Of course, service life depends on many factors. For some they work properly for decades, while for others they break down within a year. We are not talking about the causes of breakdowns today. Over time, hard drives accumulate in users’ homes, either faulty or small in size. We replaced the hard drive with a more modern one, with more memory, and put the old one in a drawer. So different amounts can accumulate.

Some part, subject to normal performance, can be sold on Avito, Yula or flea markets on social networks. This will make you more money than scrapping it. There is another option, completely disassembling hard drives, from which you can take out: scarves, magnets, stainless steel and aluminum, and it will even be more profitable to hand over. But here the question arises: do you need it, do you have certain skills? If the above methods are not useful to you or are not interesting, then you can hand over everything assembled for computer scrap.

It is necessary to find a point that specializes in accepting computer scrap, for each item separately. The usual acceptance of scrap ferrous and non-ferrous metals will not work. If they accept it there, it will be at the price of ferrous metal, 15 rubles per 1 kilogram. We open the Internet and look for the techniques we need, but unfortunately there are not many of them, but they exist. In small towns you are unlikely to be able to find one, then you can rent it out to resellers, but the price will be half as much. You will have to hand over two pieces, the more you have, the better. The weight of hard drives is different, I am attaching a video where I weighed several pieces.
