It’s time to stop holding on to Windows XP

Hi all! The wonderful times of the Windows XP operating system have long passed, but many people continue to use it and do not want to part with it. What if this makes any sense?

As of 2020, the percentage of this OS installed is slightly more than 1% among users around the world. I understand perfectly well that a lot of equipment in factories or other structures still runs Windows XP and only on it; changing something is either impossible or expensive. But let’s look at ordinary ordinary users.

The system is no longer supported, updates are not coming out. There is also no security, I remember reading somewhere about the leak of the source codes of this system or something similar. They existed before, but now everyone is generally calm about it. And in the right hands you can take advantage of this.

Many third-party applications have not been supported for a long time. And what was once installed may work with malfunctions or limitations. Over time, the range of available software for Windows XP is narrowing. The user, instead of comfortably going about his business at the computer, has to spend time solving problems of installing certain applications, searching for some old versions that can be installed. In my opinion, users thereby create a lot of inconvenience for themselves.

The performance and speed itself leaves much to be desired. Basically, this OS is installed on obsolete computers. The hardware just doesn’t work anymore, you won’t be able to surf the Internet comfortably. You will spend a lot of time loading pages, you may have to watch videos on YouTube only at low resolutions. I am silent about the problems with finding drivers for working with Windows XP for some modern equipment. For example, buy a new printer or something else, and try to install drivers that are not there.

Someone is looking for an excuse in all this, idolizes Windows XP, claiming that there is nothing better and cannot be. In my opinion, this is a big misconception. You need to keep up with the times, and not hold on to the old. A good option for using this system would be to solve specific, narrowly focused problems, use it in the country, or to introduce the younger generation to the process of formation and development of versions of Windows systems in some preparatory classes, or just to get nostalgic. You can install an emulator of this OS if necessary. And using this system as the main one, and even on an obsolete computer, is such a pleasure.

I do not impose my point of view on anyone, I simply share my thoughts. Thank you to everyone who read to the end, write in the comments for discussion what you think about this.
