Hi all! The network is full of information about the shortage of video cards, which was contributed by “miners”, cryptocurrency rates and people who benefit from all this, including manufacturers. It is difficult to predict when prices will begin to fall, including when a normal assortment of video cards will appear on store shelves. But I looked at the secondary market and was very surprised. I even saw a GeForce 9800 GT for 15,000 rubles.

My home computer has a regular NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 OC video card, which I bought a little over a year ago. I don’t remember the exact price, the receipt is lying somewhere in the card box, something like 12,000-13,000 rubles. Now this video card has increased by +10,000 rubles. It was necessary not to save then, but to buy something a little more expensive, now there is nothing to buy at all, and even if you find something, the price is “biting”.

I looked on the secondary market, prices have increased for everything. I just don’t understand why the cost has increased noticeably for older video cards. For example, a GTX 750 in 2020 could be purchased second-hand for 2500-3500 rubles. Now this price has become 5000-7500 rubles. I entered this video card into the search on Avito. Let me remind you that the map is from 2014.

And here is a screenshot from the Chinese AliExpress site with excellent price tags.

And so on for all video cards, except for completely obsolete ones. For example, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB is easily sold on secondary market sites for 1000 rubles and more.

Here’s another cool ad, a guy is selling a 9800 GT, I hope he’s joking.

I don’t know what will happen next. But for myself, I decided to abandon the idea of upgrading my video card. I’ll sit with her until the market comes to its senses, now it’s just throwing money away. How do you feel about these prices and the whole current situation, write in the comments. By the way, I recently published an article on the channel: “It’s not surprising that I handed over a video card with a defect to the store under warranty, and the money was returned within an hour,” I recommend anyone who is interested to read it, just on this same topic.
