Of course, a personal computer has a number of advantages, but people are increasingly choosing to purchase a laptop. Let’s look at three trivial problems why the laptop starts to slow down terribly. The first reason is “old hardware”. A laptop purchased relatively recently quickly becomes outdated. It is difficult to carry out a full-fledged “upgrade”. Options: install an SSD, add RAM. This is provided that this was not included in the factory configuration. In newer models, you cannot replace the processor and video card unless you replace the entire motherboard with stronger hardware. But this can hardly be called an “upgrade”. Old laptops are already difficult to cope with banal surfing on the Internet, and playing videos on YouTube is becoming a problem. It’s not worth talking about modern games. Over time, the list of problems increases, the laptop begins to “think for a long time,” “be stupid,” “slow down,” and so on for any task. There is only one way out – buy a more modern laptop. And sell your old one for some symbolic amount; there are many people who will find some use for it.

The second reason is a “dying” hard drive. If your HDD is not in the best condition, there are a lot of weak sectors and errors, then your laptop will slow down. No amount of system adjustment or stabilization will help. The hard drive is a consumable item and needs to be replaced over time. There is just no specific service time, everything is individual for everyone and depends on a number of different factors. In order to prevent the sad consequences of the crash of the operating system and the loss of your data, I advise you to install additional software to constantly monitor the condition of your hard drive. There are programs that conduct quick tests, for example: CrystalDiskInfo, Hard Disk Sentinel or others. You will always be aware of the status of your hard drive. If it’s time to change it, change it, carry out various manipulations with disk recovery, trimming sectors and the like, they will only be a temporary solution.

The third reason is a malfunction of the cooling system. There are several reasons: the fan is broken, the system is clogged with dust. The thermal paste does not perform its functions; gaps and voids with air have appeared between the contacting surfaces of the radiator and the chip on the motherboard. All this leads to terrible system brakes. The treatment is simple – mechanical cleaning. We clean the dust from the fan and update the thermal paste if necessary. If the radiator and fan will be completely removed, then I recommend updating the paste. If the fan is broken and does not perform its functions, order a new one for your laptop model, the average price is around 500 rubles. You can use different thermal pastes, but I do not recommend choosing KPT-8, specifically for the laptop cooling system.
